Three days, four new devices: Between October 26th and 28th, Apple completed its second round of fall announcements – without a keynote address, only press releases and a media event in Los Angeles. The final product was the first Mac with a touchscreen, alongside an iPad mini featuring an OLED display for the first time. Here's a complete overview, including prices and release dates for German-speaking countries.
Apple's October was divided into two parts. It began on October 13th with the "Welcome Home" event, featuring the HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K, and the HomeView smart home hub, all of which are summarized in the "Welcome Home" event overview. The final week of October saw the launch of Mac and iPad products, announced by marketing chief Greg Joswiak with the play on words "Pro and tell.".
Apple unveiled the devices over three days via press release: the iPad mini on October 26, the iMac and MacBook Pro with M6 on October 27, and the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display on October 28. All four have been available for pre-order since October 28 and will be released on Friday, November 6 – including in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

iPad mini: OLED, A20 Pro and IP67
According to Apple, the iPad mini with A20 Pro is getting the biggest update in its history. The display grows to 8.5 inches and switches to OLED, with up to 1200 nits of peak brightness and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. Because the bezels are 24 percent narrower, the casing remains as compact as its predecessor and is also thinner at 5.4 millimeters.

It also features the A20 Pro chip manufactured using a 2-nanometer process, IP67 water and dust resistance, a 12 MP front-facing camera on the long side, and optional nano-texture glass. The iPad mini is available in Midnight and North Star with 128, 256, or 512 GB of storage, starting at €749 for the Wi-Fi model and €919 for the cellular version. All specifications are listed in the overview for the iPad mini (A20 Pro), and the comparison between the A20 Pro and A17 Pro shows the differences from its predecessor.
iMac with M6
The iMac with M6 retains the design with its 24-inch 4.5K display and seven color options. New features include the M6 processor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and, according to Apple, up to twice the storage speed.

The entry-level version features a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, starting at €1,799. The version with 12 cores in both CPU and GPU starts at €1,999. Details can be found in the iMac M6 overview; whether the upgrade is worthwhile is clarified in the iMac M6 vs. M4 comparison.
MacBook Pro with M6
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 processor is the new entry-level model in the Pro line. The M6 features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, which, according to Apple, delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics than the M5. It also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and up to 24 hours of battery life; the design and Mini-LED display remain unchanged.

The starting price is €2,299, down from €2,199. All the details are summarized in the overview of the MacBook Pro M6; the price difference compared to the previous generation is shown in the MacBook Pro M6 vs. M5 comparison.
MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display
The top-of-the-line model is the MacBook Pro with a ProLED XDR display, the first Mac with a touchscreen. The tandem OLED display achieves a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, and covers both P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces. Instead of a notch, it features a Dynamic Island at the top.

The MacBook Pro uses the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, the same ones used in the Mini-LED models that remain in the lineup. The 14-inch model weighs 1.38 kilograms instead of 1.60 kilograms. It starts at €3,299, and the 16-inch model at €3,899. Configurations and prices for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are available in the overview for the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR.
Apple Creator Studio
In addition to the hardware, Apple announced an update for Apple Creator Studio on October 27th, the subscription service that includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. It will be released in November and is free for existing subscribers. On the MacBook Pro with ProLED XDR, the apps can also be controlled via touch. Anyone who buys a new Mac will receive three months of Creator Studio at no extra cost.
What else came in October
Two other dates marked the month. On October 23, the iPhone Duo, which Apple had already unveiled at its September keynote, went on sale. The devices from the "Welcome Home" event followed at different times: The HomePod mini 2 was available from October 30, and the Apple TV 4K from November 13. Home View will not be available in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland.
Which new product is worthwhile for whom?
I see the iPad mini as the new model with the biggest leap forward for most buyers. OLED, IP67, and a significantly more powerful chip address precisely the weaknesses that the smaller iPad has had for years. Those who only use it for reading will still be perfectly happy with its predecessor. The iPad buying guide will help you determine which iPad is right for you.
The situation is more nuanced with Macs. The iMac and MacBook Pro with M6 represent solid generational leaps, but aren't a reason to replace an M4 or M5 Mac. The MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR, on the other hand, isn't faster, but a different Mac altogether: If you don't need the display, touchscreen, and weight, you can get the same chips with Mini-LED for less.
