After iOS 27, most iPhones won't receive iOS 27.1, but rather iOS 27.2 directly. Apple hasn't announced a specific date, but a previous statement suggests the latest possible timeframe. And not everything included in the beta version will make it into the final release.
Apple released iOS 27 on September 14th and distributed the first beta of iOS 27.2 to developers just two days later. Version 27.1 is exclusive to the iPhone Duo, which will ship with it starting October 23rd; there is no public beta testing phase for iOS 27.1. For all other iPhones, iOS 27.2 is therefore the first major update since the fall launch.

The release date of iOS 27.2
Apple hasn't announced a release date for iOS 27.2. However, the press release for the iPhone 18 Pro from September 9th provides a clue: Siri AI is slated to appear in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in October. These are precisely the languages already active in the iOS 27.2 beta. If Apple sticks to this schedule, the update will be released sometime in October.
Past experience suggests the end of the month. The first major update after the start of autumn has typically appeared in the last week of October or shortly thereafter.

What iOS 27.2 brings
Most of the changes affect individual apps. The Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad gets profiles, including child profiles, where movies and TV shows can be restricted according to age ratings. Music, Podcasts, Phone, and Clock receive minor changes to their appearance and functionality.
The second beta adds details about the planned anti-theft feature for the iPhone, which is not yet active. Also new is that Dual Capture in FaceTime – using the front and rear cameras simultaneously – now works in group calls. This requires an iPhone 17 or later, and all participants need iOS 27.
What's not coming with iOS 27.2
The biggest visible change in the beta is the newly built Health app with Insights, Longevity, and Browse sections, including a Health Age calculation. According to Apple's developer notes, it's not part of the final iOS 27.2 release but will follow later this year – and will initially launch only in US English.
Several other features currently only appear in the code and are not active in the beta. These include countdowns for album releases in Apple Music and shortcuts for third-party apps.
How much of that actually reaches Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The new Siri AI languages are of little help in this country. German isn't one of them, and Apple still doesn't offer Siri AI on iPhones and iPads in the EU – citing the Digital Markets Act. Switzerland is an exception: Anyone using a French-language iPhone there will receive Siri AI in their language with the update.
iOS 27.2 will be most noticeable in Germany in one respect: the new tracking request is mandatory here, as it is in France, Italy, Poland, and Romania. In the other EU countries, including Austria, the app provider decides which version to display.
If you use an iPhone in Germany or Austria, the profiles in the Apple TV app are therefore the most tangible new feature of the update.
Test iOS 27.2 now
The public beta can be activated via "Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates," where you select the iOS 27 Public Beta. The process is the same as for the iOS 27 Developer Beta. On an iPhone that needs to run reliably every day, it's recommended to wait for the final version.
