The first Mac with a touchscreen, the first iPad mini with OLED, and two models with the M6: Apple's second fall lineup is here. Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are included from the start. Before buying, it's especially worth taking a look inside the box.
Starting today, Friday, November 6th, the MacBook Pro with M6, the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display, the iMac with M6, and the iPad mini with A20 Pro are available in stores. Apple unveiled them between October 26th and 28th, and all four have been available for pre-order since October 28th.
For buyers today, three points are particularly important: the cost of the devices, what is missing from the packaging, and which model is actually the right one.
Key Facts at a Glance
- MacBook Pro with M6, MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, iMac with M6 and iPad mini (A20 Pro) are available starting today.
- Prices start at 749 euros for the iPad mini, while the PROLED model starts at 3,299 euros.
- Neither the MacBook Pro nor the iPad mini includes a power adapter in the box, while the iMac does.
- The Macs come with macOS 27 Golden Gate, the iPad mini with iPadOS 27.
Entry-level prices in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The same prices apply in Germany and Austria; in Switzerland, Apple charges in Swiss francs.
| Device | Germany and Austria | Switzerland |
|---|---|---|
| iPad mini (A20 Pro) | from €749 | from 679 CHF |
| iMac with M6 | from €1,799 | from 1499 CHF |
| MacBook Pro 14-inch with M6 | from €2,299 | from 1899 CHF |
| MacBook Pro 14-inch with PROLED XDR, M5 Pro | from €3,299 | from 2799 CHF |
| MacBook Pro 16-inch with PROLED XDR, M5 Pro | from €3,899 | from 3299 CHF |
The MacBook Pro with M6 and the iMac with M6 represent the model updates of the series. The major redesign is found in the MacBook Pro with ProLED XDR display and the iPad mini.
What's missing from the box
The MacBook Pro with M6 processor only includes a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable, and the ProLED model also comes without a power adapter. This must be purchased separately, and the required wattage depends on the model. The iPad mini includes a USB-C cable, but also no power adapter.
The iMac is the exception; it comes with a 143-watt power adapter. The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is only included with the 12-core model; the entry-level model comes without the sensor.
Software and initial test reports
The three Macs will ship with macOS 27 Golden Gate. The iPad mini will come with iPadOS 27.
The first reviews of the PROLED model are now available. The display impresses almost all reviewers, while the touchscreen is not a deciding factor for most. Initial reviews of the iPad mini are also already available.
Which model is worth it?
I would only spend the €3,299 for the ProLED model if the display, not the touchscreen, is the deciding factor. There's a €1,000 price difference between the MacBook Pro with the M6 and the ProLED model at the entry level. The Mac buying guide and the iPad buying guide already list the new devices.
