Four weeks before its premiere, Apple TV reveals where Andrew Yancy's journey takes him. The new trailer for Bad Monkey plunges us into a turf war in Florida, starring John Malkovich as the head of a criminal organization and Yvonne Strahovski as the district attorney. Those who only want to subscribe to the season for one month should check the calendar.
Apple TV released the trailer for the second season of Bad Monkey on November 5th. The release date of December 2nd has been set since August; the trailer is new.
In Germany, the series is available on the Apple TV app under the title „Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey“. Apple had already announced the renewal in December 2024.
Key Facts at a Glance
- Apple TV has released the trailer for season 2 of Bad Monkey.
- The ten episodes will be released individually from December 2nd, 2026, every Wednesday until February 3rd, 2027.
- John Malkovich and Yvonne Strahovski are new additions to the main cast.
- The season tells a new, original story.
A murder and a turf war in Florida
Andrew Yancy, played by Vince Vaughn, witnesses the murder of Florida's top problem solver. An ambitious district attorney assigns him a meticulous forensic accountant to work with him on the case. Yancy thus becomes embroiled in a turf war between rival criminal organizations.
Along the way, he encounters an educated Mafia boss, his out-of-control son, and a young woman who needs his protection. Meanwhile, Yancy has to deal with her aging father, and the romantic tension with Dr. Rosa Campesino remains unresolved. She herself is investigating a mysterious skin rash.
Malkovich and Strahovski are new additions
Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz return. New to the main cast are John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, and Zavior Phillips. Malkovich plays Spencer, the head of a major criminal organization in South Florida, and Strahovski plays District Attorney Delaney.
The series is being developed by Bill Lawrence, who is also behind Ted Lasso and Shrinking. The source material is by writer Carl Hiaasen, but according to Apple, the second season tells a new story.
Nine-week duration; one subscription month is not enough
There are nine weeks between the first and last episodes. Apple TV costs €9.99 per month in Germany; the seven-day free trial applies to new subscribers. Those who want to watch every episode from the start on December 2nd will pay for three months. If the free trial is still active, it's two months.
I would therefore wait until the beginning of February if the service is only subscribed to for this series. All ten episodes will be available from February 3rd, so one month should be enough. Season 1 will still be available on Apple TV; you could catch up on it in the same month.
Do you prefer to watch Bad Monkey week by week until February, or wait until all ten episodes are released? Let us know in the comments what you decide.
