Almost two years after its renewal, the date is set: The second season of the Florida crime comedy will premiere on December 2nd. Ten episodes, a completely new story, and a schedule that runs right through the holidays.
The series about suspended detective Andrew Yancy was one of the streaming service's quieter successes in 2024 – critics praised the script and cast, and audiences stuck with it. A second season was confirmed as early as December 2024. Since then, the project has been shrouded in silence. Now, Apple has released the first images and the release date.
Key Facts at a Glance
- Season 2 will start on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, simultaneously worldwide.
- Ten episodes, one per week, every Wednesday until February 3, 2027.
- This season tells a completely new story instead of being a continuation of the first case.
- Vince Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz are returning.
- New additions to the cast include John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, and Zavior Phillips.
The schedule runs right through the middle of the holidays
Apple is releasing the season weekly, which, with ten episodes and a premiere on December 2nd, results in an unusual situation: two episodes fall directly during the holidays, and another on the day before New Year's Eve.

For viewers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, one thing is particularly important: Apple explicitly states a worldwide release. There is no staggered release date for German-speaking countries, as sometimes occurs with other providers. Those who want to watch the season on the release date don't need to do anything else.
A new case instead of a sequel
The season doesn't pick up where the first one left off. Yancy, played by Vince Vaughn, witnesses the murder of a powerful figure and is subsequently paired with a meticulous forensic accountant by an ambitious district attorney. To get his badge back, he gets caught up in a turf war between two criminal organizations.

Alongside this, several subplots unfold: his aging father, his unresolved relationship with Rosa Campensino, who is herself investigating a mysterious skin rash, and a boastful animal relocation operator whose business is harming the environment. The source material remains Carl Hiaasen, whose novel formed the basis of the first season – Hiaasen is also involved as an executive producer.
Bill Lawrence, who previously developed "Ted Lasso" and "Shrinking" for Apple through his production company, remains in charge. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
Malkovich and Strahovski join the cast
The most notable new addition is John Malkovich, along with Yvonne Strahovski and Zavior Phillips. The guest list is equally extensive, ranging from Sofia Boutella, Dax Shepard, and Sam Jaeger to Margarita Levieva, Peter Billingsley, and June Diane Raphael. Returning from the first season are Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz.
The first season is still available to watch in its entirety – not an unimportant piece of information given the two-year gap between seasons.
Why the December date is a smart choice
The start date is no coincidence. Placing a lighthearted crime comedy in the week before Christmas and then continuing it through the holidays perfectly aligns with the time when households are most likely to be watching television together. The weekly format also ensures that the series remains in the public eye for two months, rather than being binged and forgotten in a single weekend.
This has a side effect for German-speaking viewers: those already considering a trial subscription will find this season, along with the rest of the service's fall and winter programming, offers a period when a subscription is more worthwhile than in the summer. The current lineup is listed in the August overview.
