Apple TV: Mysterious deletions raise new questions

Apple TV is once again raising questions about its release plans. Two series, both already announced and partially released with trailers, have suddenly disappeared from the platform. The changes initially affect the series The Savant and now also the French-language production The Hunt. What remains is a sense of uncertainty and a streaming service that is withholding crucial information.

Apple TV is known for high-quality productions and international titles. Normally, the release process is clear and structured. However, when two series disappear from the lineup shortly before their launch, it seems unusual. The recent decisions regarding The Savant and The Hunt demonstrate that even advanced productions are not immune to a sudden halt.

The Savant disappears from the schedule

In September, Apple canceled the release of The Savant. The cancellation seemed unusual, as the series had already been announced. The suspected murder of political activist Charlie Kirk simultaneously garnered public attention, fueling reports of possible connections. Apple simply stated that they looked forward to releasing the series at a later date.

Two months later, this later date remains unclear. The Savant is still listed in the Apple TV app, but only with a note that the series will be available at a later date. A new release date is completely missing.

The Hunt is being withdrawn even more significantly.

While The Savant remains in the system, The Hunt has been almost completely removed. The French-language series was scheduled to premiere on December 3rd. An official trailer was already online, and a press release was published in the Apple TV PR Newsroom. However, shortly before the planned launch, both the trailer and the press release disappeared. The video has since been set to private on the Apple TV team's main YouTube channel.

The Apple TV app no longer contains any entry for The Hunt. This distinguishes it from The Savant and signals an even more complete withdrawal. Interestingly, the trailer remains available on Apple Australia's YouTube channel , suggesting that the removal was either not fully completed or happened very quickly.

The Hunt tells the story of a group of friends who go on hunting trips together. During these trips, the group is suddenly pursued and shot at by a rival group. The series was approved in June 2024, at that time under the working title A L'ombre Des Forets. It was planned as part of Apple TV's growing French-language offerings.

Unclear reasons and open questions

Why The Hunt was pulled so late in its development remains completely unclear. There is no indication of external incidents or internal problems that have been made public. The Savant also still has no new release date. Both series are therefore in limbo, without a clear update and without a transparent reason.
