Apple releases new firmware for key accessories

Apple has released new firmware for several accessories. The USB-C Magic Trackpad originally shipped with firmware 3.1.1 and, after the update, is now at version 3.1.9. The same applies to the USB-C versions of the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, as well as the version with Touch ID and a numeric keypad. They previously ran on firmware 3.1.4 and are now also being updated to 3.1.9. Improvements in connectivity, input precision, and interaction with iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and visionOS are expected.

Firmware for older devices

Older models are also being supported. The Magic Trackpad 2 previously had firmware 3.1.1 installed and will now receive version 3.1.8. This update is primarily intended to bring stability and security up to date, ensuring that older hardware works seamlessly with newer software.

Installation is automatic. As soon as the accessory is actively paired with a device running one of the Apple operating systems, the firmware is updated without any manual intervention.
