Apple TV has established itself as a serious player in the streaming market in recent years. Particularly in the science fiction genre, the service consistently demonstrates ambition to set new standards with high-caliber productions. Following successes like Severance, Silo, and the current hit series Pluribus, the next sequel is on its way: The sci-fi series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters returns in 2026 with a second season – including Godzilla, the Monarch organization, and new gigantic threats.

The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on Apple TV in 2023 and was well-received by critics. The series impressed with its balanced blend of human drama and lavishly staged monster action. At its heart was the story of two siblings who sought to uncover their family's connection to the secret organization Monarch. In doing so, they stumbled upon a web of decades-old secrets and encountered Lee Shaw – played by Kurt Russell in the present day and by his son Wyatt Russell in flashbacks set in the 1950s.

Season 2 starts in February 2026

Apple TV has officially confirmed that the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Friday, February 27, 2026. The release will follow Apple's typical format: one episode will be released initially, followed by weekly episodes. The season will run until May 1, 2026. A teaser trailer has also been released, offering a first look at the new monsters, locations, and conflicts.

New settings, old threats

The story picks up directly after the first season finale. Monarch's fate is once again at the center of it all – and with it, the fate of the world. The narrative takes the characters to places including Kong's Skull Island and a mysterious village from which a mythical Titan emerges from the sea. The line between past and present becomes increasingly blurred. Secrets from previous generations have a direct impact on current events. Old alliances crumble, and new conflicts arise. Family, friendship, and enmity are put to the test – all under the shadow of an impending "Titan Event.".

Apple TV focuses on depth and visual impact.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters remains true to its concept in its second season: a genre-bending mix of monster movie, family drama, and conspiracy thriller. Visually, Apple TV once again relies on high-quality production effects, international locations, and a cinematic storytelling style that clearly distinguishes itself from the typical series format. Godzilla is not the only central element – new creatures and Titans also expand the MonsterVerse, offering fans additional depth and excitement.

Increased visibility thanks to a successful sci-fi strategy

With the continued growth of its own series catalog, particularly in the science fiction genre, Apple TV is also expanding the audience for productions like Monarch. Series such as Pluribus, For All Mankind, and Foundation have further fueled interest in complex, high-quality narratives. Against this backdrop, the second season of Monarch is likely to reach an even larger audience than the first.

Streaming details and availability

The complete first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is still available on Apple TV. The service costs €9.99 per month and, in addition to Monarch, offers other successful original productions such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo. New users can usually try Apple TV with a free trial before a subscription is required.
