Apple Music is marking a record-breaking moment by choosing Tyler, The Creator as its Artist of the Year 2025. The award encapsulates a year in which the rapper, producer, and creative force achieved peak performance on Apple Music while also impacting broader pop culture. The result is a look back at a year that was significant for both Apple Music and Tyler.

The year 2025 brings unprecedented numbers for Tyler. On Apple Music, plays, listeners, and listening hours reach the highest levels of his career. Between November 2024 and October 2025, more than 4.5 billion minutes of listening time are accumulated. This reach demonstrates the strength of his music on Apple Music and the consistently growing global interest.

Apple Music names Tyler, The Creator Artist of the Year

Tyler's development on Apple Music will be clearly measurable by 2025. Apple Music is highlighting his influence on music and culture and awarding him the title given to only one artist annually. The focus is on the combination of quality, productivity, and the cultural resonance generated by his releases.

A strong year with CHROMAKOPIA

The starting point for Tyler's record-breaking year is CHROMAKOPIA, his most personal studio album to date. On Apple Music, the album achieved the best numbers of his entire career, both on its first day and in its first week. The blend of narrative worlds, characters, and personal perspective makes the project an album that consistently generates high streaming numbers.

The accompanying tour is considered his most ambitious to date. The live performances further strengthen his presence on Apple Music, as new listeners discover his discography and existing fans return more frequently.

DON'T TAP THE GLASS will be released mid-year

A second project emerged midway through the tour. DON'T TAP THE GLASS was written, recorded, and released while the tour was still underway. The shorter, more direct, and deliberately stripped-down album differs significantly from CHROMAKOPIA. This very contrast garnered additional attention on Apple Music. On its release day, the album reached number 1 on the Apple Music overall chart in more than 55 countries.

Thus, two completely different visions exist side by side on Apple Music, both with a strong response. This makes 2025 the most productive year of his career.

Presence at festivals and increasing cultural influence

In addition to his releases, Tyler is a fixture at major festivals like Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Osheaga. He also hosts the eleventh edition of Camp Flog Gnaw, his own festival in Los Angeles. This consistent festival presence also contributes to his growth on Apple Music, as setlists, live performances, and media attention attract new listeners.

Zane Lowe, Global Creative Director at Apple Music, emphasizes how much Tyler's willingness to take risks, precision, and creativity have shaped the year. From Apple Music's perspective, he demonstrates how far artistic freedom can go when consistently implemented.

Tyler's own words and the meaning of the Apple Music Awards

Tyler explicitly thanks everyone who listens to his music. The award on Apple Music means a great deal to him, especially because his working methods often seem unconventional. This very attitude is now being officially recognized.

The Apple Music Award itself is a custom-made piece of technology. Each award is based on an Apple silicon wafer, encased between polished glass and anodized aluminum. The chip inside is the same core that powers the devices through which Apple Music makes more than 100 million songs available worldwide.

Film debut and GRAMMY nominations

Beyond Apple Music, Tyler also expanded his creative reach in 2025. His feature film debut, Marty Supreme, a historical drama directed by Josh Safdie and starring Timothée Chalamet, was released. Simultaneously, Tyler received five Grammy nominations for CHROMAKOPIA and DON'T TAP THE GLASS.

Apple Music accompanies the award

To celebrate the title, Apple Music is releasing a special selection of playlists featuring the most important songs of the past twelve months. Users who have Tyler in their Shazam history will also receive a personal message from the artist directly on their home screen.

A creative highlight in the Apple Music universe

Tyler, The Creator's selection as Apple Music's Artist of the Year 2025 sums up an extraordinary year. Two successful albums, record-breaking streams, top-tier festival appearances, and new creative steps in film demonstrate how powerful an artist can be when productivity, vision, and cultural presence converge. 2025 thus becomes a year that sets a new benchmark for both Apple Music and Tyler, The Creator.
