Apple has released the full repair prices for the iPhone Duo. Without AppleCare, damage to the foldable display costs €1,149; in the worst-case scenario, it can cost €1,719. With AppleCare, almost all repairs remain in the double digits.
The iPhone Duo starts at €2,299 in Germany and can be pre-ordered from October 16th at 2 PM. Apple's iPhone repair cost calculator now lists all costs for the foldable model, broken down by service options and AppleCare service options.
Previously, the only item listed for the duo was a single AppleCare-inclusive product: €19 for the replaceable cover layer of the foldable display. Now, Apple is also listing a price for the cover without a warranty.
Key Facts at a Glance

- For other damages, Apple charges 1,719 euros, roughly three-quarters of the starting price.
- The battery replacement costs 269 euros, which is 120 euros more than for the iPhone 18 Pro.

How much a repair without AppleCare costs

| Rear glass damage | 219 euros |

| Damage to the outer display | 489 euros |
| Outer display and back glass | 629 euros |

The interior display alone thus costs half of the starting price of 2,299 euros. The item for other damages accounts for almost 75 percent.

What AppleCare covers

Theft or loss coverage is only available with a protection plan that includes these cases. With AppleCare, the outer display costs the same as the back glass, and the inner display costs the same as any other accidental damage.
How much AppleCare+ costs for the duo
In the German Apple Store, Apple offers AppleCare+ with theft and loss coverage for the Duo for €20.99 per month or €209.99 per year, both prices include 19% insurance tax and are valid until cancellation. This includes unlimited repairs for accidental damage and up to two theft or loss claims every 12 months, provided "Find My" is activated.
Alternatively, the duo can be insured via AppleCare One. This also costs €20.99 per month, but includes up to three devices; each additional device costs €5.99 per month.
Regardless, in Germany, the statutory warranty against the retailer is two years. Apple itself points out on the purchase page that AppleCare does not replace these rights. Accidental damage is not covered by the warranty.
More expensive than the iPhone 18 Pro Max
Placed next to the two current top models, it becomes clear where the iPhone Duo is more expensive. The outer display costs the same as the display of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, the Duo is significantly more expensive when it comes to the battery, back glass, and other repair costs.
| Without AppleCare | iPhone Duo | iPhone 18 Pro Max | iPhone Air |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery service | 269 euros | 149 euros | 135 euros |
| Rear glass damage | 219 euros | 169 euros | 169 euros |
| Damage to the rear camera | 269 euros | 299 euros | 199 euros |
| Display (on the outside of the Duo) | 489 euros | 489 euros | 405 euros |
| Display and back glass | 629 euros | 585 euros | 499 euros |
| Other damage | 1,719 euros | 1,059 euros | 959 euros |
Only the rear camera is cheaper on the Duo than on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but it remains more expensive than on the iPhone Air.
One item in the iPhone Air's repair costs has changed since its launch. In September 2025, the cost for miscellaneous damage was €859 based on the repair prices at the time; today, Apple quotes €959. The other costs remain the same.
With AppleCare, the three models are virtually identical. Display and back glass cost €29 across the board, other accidental damage €99, and theft or loss €129. The only difference is the Duo's internal display, which is a separate item at €99.
Why AppleCare isn't just a bonus for the Duo
I consider a protection plan for the iPhone Duo practically essential. A single instance of damage to the inner display costs €1,149 without AppleCare. With a year of AppleCare+ for €209.99 and the €99 fee, the same incident costs €308.99, and this display is precisely what sets the Duo apart from the rest of the product line.
The battery is a notable exception. At €269, replacing it costs as much as a new rear camera and significantly more than for the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and Air. The true complexity of the internal battery replacement will only be revealed by teardowns after the phone's release on October 23rd.
Would you forgo AppleCare for the iPhone Duo, or is the risk too high for you at €1,149 for the inner display? Let us know your decision in the comments.
