Apple has launched the next testing phase and released the first beta version of iOS 26.2. Simultaneously, iPadOS 26.2, macOS 26.2 ("Tahoe"), watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 are also available for developers to download. This release comes just a few days after the rollout of the final versions of iOS 26.1 and its associated operating systems.
The specific new features of iOS 26.2 are not yet known. Discovered changes, visible adjustments, or new functions will be covered separately as soon as they are documented.
Start of a new test phase
With the release of iOS 26.2, Apple begins the next cycle of its ongoing software development. Following the extensive update to iOS 26.1, the focus is now on optimizing existing features. Past experience shows that the first betas of a new interim version usually contain performance improvements, internal testing, and preparations for upcoming features.
The integration of Apple Intelligence is also likely to remain a topic of discussion. Apple is continuously working to expand AI capabilities to more languages and regions. Whether iOS 26.2 will bring any visible enhancements in this area remains to be seen.
Looking back: What iOS 26.1 brought
The recently released iOS 26.1 brought a number of visible improvements that noticeably refined the system in everyday use. Particularly noteworthy is the new option to adjust the transparency of the "Liquid Glass" design. Under "Display & Brightness," users can choose between a clear and a tinted view – a feature directly based on community feedback.
Furthermore, with iOS 26.1, Apple introduced the option to disable the camera swipe gesture on the lock screen. This prevents the camera from being accidentally launched, for example, in a pocket or through unintentional touches. The Phone app also received a small but practical update: haptic feedback when connecting and ending calls can now be turned off.
Another detail concerned the Clock app. Since iOS 26.1, the alarm can no longer be turned off with just a tap, but only with a deliberate swipe gesture – a measure to prevent accidental deactivation.
In parallel, menus in the settings were visually redesigned, the Apple TV icon received a new design as part of the rebranding, and the "Slide Over" multitasking feature returned to the iPad.

With the new beta phase for iOS 26.2 and other operating systems, Apple is consistently continuing development. The initial focus is likely to be on stability, performance, and minor optimizations, while visible new features will gradually appear in the coming weeks.
