One day after the first screenshots of the Hub software surfaced, the same leaker has come up with more information. Apple's smart home hub is said to be available in four colors, and the software apparently adapts to the device's color. One of these colors doesn't quite match what has been reported so far about the casing.
The previous day, user pdfu had published the setup screens of a photo view, which are said to belong to the HomePad. In a further post on X, he now mentions four colors in which the device could be released: Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink.
According to Bloomberg, the hub is expected to be unveiled on October 13th, alongside the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. All previous reports about the device are compiled in the overview of rumors surrounding the HomePod.
Key Facts at a Glance
- According to pdfu, the HomePad could be released in silver, space grey, starlight and rose pink.
- The photo view settings apparently select their preview image to match the color reported by the device.
- Bloomberg had recently described the casing as grey aluminum.
Four colors in the decor
pdfu derives the colors from the photo view settings. According to his post, the preview image that appears there depends on the hardware color that the device reports to the software. Each of the four versions will therefore have its own distinct design.
Apple's Home device may come in four finishes: Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink.

Furthermore, there is a hint regarding later setup steps. Once the appropriate device graphics are available, the case color of the respective model could also be visible in the setup itself.
In Germany, Apple calls Starlight "Polarstern," the name under which the color is used for products like the Apple Watch and MacBook Air. The German names Apple will use for the four HomePad colors will only be revealed at the official unveiling.
How the colors fit with the existing picture
Bloomberg describes the hub's casing as gray aluminum, about as thick as an iPhone, and without buttons. Four colors are possible, and Space Gray could be exactly that version. However, Rose Pink and Polar Star would add a selection that goes beyond a purely technical device.
Source: pdfu had already analyzed several standby views of the iPhone Duo from the iOS 27.1 code in recent days. The colors also appear to originate from the software, not from casing components or suppliers. This makes it more reliable than a mere assertion, but a second source is still lacking.
A device that wants to be seen
I find the color options more interesting than the number itself. A hub that sits openly on the kitchen counter or sideboard is part of the decor. With Rose Pink and Polaris, Apple would be treating the device more like the HomePod mini, which also comes in several colors, rather than like an Apple TV, which usually disappears invisibly onto a shelf.
The fact that the software adapts its appearance to the case color fits with this. Apple clearly considers the device as a whole, right down to the first screen you see after unboxing it.
Which of the four colors would you choose for your table – or would you prefer a simple space gray? Let us know in the comments what you would choose.
