Apple Wallet in iOS 26: All new features at a glance

Improvements to boarding passes

If you've ever traveled by plane, you may have already used a digital boarding pass in Wallet. In iOS 26, this area has been significantly enhanced. New features include:

Live Activity: You can see the current status of your flight directly on your lock screen. It's also convenient to share this information with others, such as when you're being picked up or traveling together.
Airport maps: Wallet shows you maps of the airport to help you find your way around.
Baggage tracking: With the “Where is?” app, you can track the location of your checked baggage – integrated into your boarding pass.

Of course, these innovations also depend on whether the airlines cooperate. But Apple is working to win over as many providers as possible.

US passports in Wallet

In the US, it's been possible to store digital IDs in Wallet for some time. This was previously limited to driver's licenses – iOS 26 now also brings US passports to the app. According to Apple, users can use it at TSA checkpoints, in apps, or in person.

However, it's important to always check with your airport before your flight to see if a digital passport is accepted there. The introduction depends on the respective US state and local authorities.

Order tracking with Apple Intelligence

The order tracking feature was introduced with iOS 16, but had its shortcomings—primarily because it relied on third-party providers. iOS 26 rethinks the topic with Apple Intelligence. Now, Wallet automatically recognizes orders from your emails, for example, from online shops or delivery services. You then receive an overview in Wallet with the delivery status, estimated arrival date, and all important details—without the need for third-party providers. The prerequisite is that you're using an iPhone with Apple Intelligence.

Save credit card details

Previously, if you wanted to store your full credit card information digitally, you had to resort to password managers like 1Password. Wallet only displayed the last four digits by default. With iOS 26, you can now store the full card number, expiration date, and other information directly in Wallet. This makes access easier, for example, if you need your card for an online payment. The data is, of course, encrypted and stored locally on your device.

Apple Pay: Installment payments and in-store rewards

Apple is expanding Apple Pay features for in-store purchases. With iOS 26, you can also use installment payments when paying through a partner like Affirm. Additionally, rewards associated with your Apple Pay card are displayed. This is shown directly during the payment process; you don't need to set anything up. Apple wants to make the shopping experience more convenient – and position Wallet even more firmly as a payment platform.

Turn off advertising notifications

Not officially announced, but still new in iOS 26: There's now an option in the Wallet settings to disable advertising notifications. Following criticism of a push notification for the film "F1: The Movie," Apple has responded. Under "Offers and Promotions," you can decide for yourself whether you want to continue receiving such notifications or not.
