New images of purported third-party cases suggest that Apple is reverting to the classic MagSafe ring for the iPhone 18 Pro's clear case – moving away from the controversial white rectangle of the previous generation. Meanwhile, a recent component leak reveals four possible colors for the upcoming Pro model.

Two leaks from the Chinese supply chain, released on the same day, paint a concrete picture of what the iPhone 18 Pro might look like – at least in the hands of consumers. While replica cases suggest a design change for the official Apple clear case, a photo of alleged camera components is said to confirm the four new colors from an earlier leak. Both pieces of evidence fit into the existing rumored picture of the iPhone 18 Pro and provide fresh details ahead of the expected mass production launch this summer.

Return to the classic MagSafe ring on the Clear Case

Images of third-party clear cases for the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max are circulating on Chinese social media platforms. Instead of the large white panel that covered almost the entire back of the iPhone 17 Pro clear case, the new cases again feature an open horseshoe or ring design around the MagSafe magnetic area. This means that most of the back remains transparent.

Accessory manufacturers typically produce cases before Apple's own announcements, based on anticipated specifications from the supply chain. Nothing is officially confirmed, but such replicas regularly provide a reliable indication of the direction Apple's own first-party design will take.

Why the old design was so polarizing

With the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple replaced the classic round MagSafe array with a large, opaque white rectangle featuring the Apple logo in the center. This change was due to a design modification to the iPhone 17 Pro itself: the Apple logo had been moved further down the back and now sits centered in the new rectangular glass segment below the camera module. The traditional MagSafe ring would have covered this area.

Apple's response – the large white area – was perceived by many in forums and reviews as a departure from the fundamental concept of a clear case. Buyers who wanted to showcase their iPhone's color saw it as contradicting the product name. The fact that the now-appearing replicas revert to the open ring design would represent a significant course correction.

Four possible colors from the component leak

Meanwhile, an image has surfaced allegedly showing camera components of the iPhone 18 Pro. The colors shown match an earlier leak from April, in which a source with connections to the Apple supply chain mentioned four new colors for the upcoming Pro model.

The current recording comes from an account on X called "Majin," which, however, does not appear to be the same as the originally reliable leaker of the same name who disappeared in 2025. The new account primarily shares material that first appeared elsewhere – caution is advised when interpreting it.

Skepticism factors regarding the current leak

It's possible the image was deliberately produced to fit the already circulating color rumors. Nevertheless, it's plausible that the camera components are genuine: the closer Apple gets to mass production, the more such components appear in the supply chain. A similar early stage last year yielded images of iPhone 17 Pro camera components that later accurately predicted the final colors.

The current material would arrive unusually early – if it is genuine – as mass production of the iPhone 18 Pro is not scheduled to begin until summer.

Two small puzzle pieces relating to the same product

Both leaks address the same design aspect from two perspectives: how the iPhone 18 Pro should look and how well protected it appears. Apple's response to the clear case criticism - if the cases send the right signal - would show that Apple takes last year's customer feedback seriously. The color palette, in turn, expands the existing Pro range with two significantly more striking shades: light blue and dark cherry.

Those waiting for the Pro model will get their first combined look at the case color and original accessories. Both will only be officially confirmed by Apple itself – traditionally in September. (Image: Shutterstock / Ringo Chiu)
