The iPhone 16 was introduced a few weeks ago, and the first feedback on sales figures is already in. Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned analyst who closely monitors Apple's supply chains, has now reported that sales of the new iPhone generation are in line with expectations.

Every year there is speculation about how a new iPhone will sell and whether Apple can keep up with demand. Apple itself does not usually publish direct sales figures, but experts like Ming-Chi Kuo provide important insights by analyzing the supply chain. In his latest report, Kuo posted on the platform “X” (formerly Twitter) confirmedthat there are no signs of cuts in the iPhone 16 supply chain. This means that demand is in line with Apple's expectations.

iPhone 16 sales figures compared to expectations

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, there are no signs so far that Apple will have to cut production of the iPhone 16. This is important information, as reports of possible supply chain cuts often appear shortly after the launch of a new iPhone - a sign that demand is not as high as expected. However, this is not the case with the iPhone 16 series. Apple seems to be right on schedule with its current sales figures. Another important point: Although Apple does not release direct sales figures, information from the supply chain is often a reliable indicator of how a new iPhone is doing in the market. For example, there are reports that Apple has asked its suppliers to continue production of the Pro models even during the national holidays in China. This suggests that demand for the premium models remains strong.

Pro models of the iPhone 16 are particularly in demand

As in previous years, the Pro models of the iPhone range seem to be attracting the most attention. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are doing particularly well and meeting Apple's expectations, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. These premium models offer enhanced features, including better cameras and additional features, which make them particularly attractive to many buyers. The fact that Apple has asked suppliers to continue production of the Pro models in China over the holidays shows that demand for these models remains high. It is not unusual for the more expensive iPhone models to perform better, as they are often aimed at a target group that is willing to pay more for additional features.

Weak demand for basic models

While the Pro models are shining, demand for the base versions of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus is weaker than expected, according to Kuo. Compared to last year, interest in these models seems to have declined. This could indicate that many buyers are either opting for the cheaper older models or going straight for the better-equipped Pro versions. This development has been observed several times in recent years and could indicate an increasing focus of buyers on the higher-end models. Nevertheless, Apple will continue to produce the base models unchanged, as they still form an important part of the product range, especially for more price-conscious buyers.

Apple satisfied with iPhone 16 sales development – Pro models in focus

In summary, the latest reports from Ming-Chi Kuo show that the iPhone 16 is selling as expected so far. The Pro models in particular are in demand, while demand for the basic versions is somewhat weaker. Nevertheless, there are no signs of cuts in the supply chain, which suggests that Apple is satisfied with the market development. Are you looking for new accessories?
