ChatGPT is receiving an update that significantly improves its voice mode. The functions sound more natural, run more smoothly, and feel more integrated with the existing text mode. This makes using ChatGPT easier and more transparent. The option to use the classic voice mode remains available. The update is being released alongside other new features such as a shopping function, expanded features in the Atlas AI Browser, group chats, and the GPT 5.1 model.

A language mode often determines how user-friendly an AI tool is. Therefore, any changes in this area are noticeable. The new version of ChatGPT focuses on more closely integrating audio and text. This creates a clear workflow that works without additional steps. Results are presented in a more diverse way, while the user interface remains flexible. This update is part of a series of features designed to make ChatGPT more powerful and user-friendly overall.

A new standard for voice mode

ChatGPT's voice mode sounds more natural than before. The update automatically integrates it with the main text mode, creating a seamless dialogue. Switching between voice and text input is eliminated, making the entire experience smoother and more direct.

Additionally, ChatGPT's integrated voice mode allows results to be displayed in new locations. These include map views that appear during a spoken conversation. This makes it easier to navigate and provides more readily accessible information. Simultaneously, a transcript of the ongoing audio conversation appears directly in the chat window. This ensures that what was just discussed remains clear without the need to switch modes.

The option for classic voice mode remains available.

Despite the new solution, the previous design remains available. A new option in the app's settings allows users to revert to the old, audio-only mode. Those who prefer a clear separation between text and speech can easily continue using this method. The update therefore doesn't remove anything, but rather expands the available features.

Further new features related to ChatGPT

The improved voice mode is part of a larger package of new features. This includes a shopping function that demonstrates how AI can support product searches and purchasing decisions. The Atlas AI Browser receives enhancements that simplify researching and analyzing large amounts of information. Group chats enable collaborative work in ChatGPT, allowing users to share information and complete tasks simultaneously. GPT 5.1 also introduces a model that responds more precisely and processes requests faster.

ChatGPT: An upgrade that changes how we interact with language

The update takes ChatGPT's speech mode to a new level. The integration of audio and text provides a clearer, smoother user experience, while the transcription feature and new display options offer greater clarity. The ability to revert to the old mode ensures flexibility. Along with the other new features, this demonstrates ChatGPT's ongoing development. The result is a tool that sounds more natural, is more versatile, and provides greater everyday support. (Image: Shutterstock / Primakov)
