Apple TV adds "The Hunt" to its March lineup

Apple TV has updated its March schedule, bringing back a series that briefly disappeared from the lineup last year: the thriller "The Hunt". After a three-month delay and a plagiarism issue being resolved, the release date of the French-language production and the reasons for its initial cancellation have now been confirmed.

In November, just two weeks before its originally planned premiere, Apple TV unexpectedly removed "The Hunt" from its release schedule. While the also-postponed series "The Savant" remained listed online as part of the upcoming lineup, "The Hunt" disappeared completely from Apple's official press site and even from its YouTube channel. This already indicated that it wasn't a simple postponement.

Shortly afterward, the background became clear: Apple and its production partner Gaumont had reportedly been confronted with plagiarism accusations. The series, presented as an original work, was allegedly based on a pre-existing work.

The reason for the delay

According to a report by Deadline, the problem has now been resolved. Specifically, the issue was that "The Hunt" was based on Douglas Fairbairn's film "Shoot". This source material had initially not been properly acknowledged.

Gaumont explained that the release was postponed after it was discovered in November 2025 that the project was based on an existing work. As soon as the producer learned of this, immediate steps were taken to identify the rights holders and obtain the necessary permissions.

Only after this clarification was Apple TV able to add the series back to its release schedule. The delay totaled three months.

New launch date on Apple TV

The new release date has now been set: "The Hunt" will premiere on Wednesday, March 4th, on Apple TV. This means the series will be released exactly three months after its originally planned November launch.

The fact that the series is now being released shows that the rights issue was apparently resolved amicably. For Apple TV, this also means adding a thriller to its March lineup, a show that has already generated considerable buzz even before its premiere.

What is "The Hunt" about?

The story centers on Franck, played by Benoît Magimel. He regularly spends his weekends hunting with his longtime friends. What begins as a well-established routine among friends develops into a dangerous situation one Sunday.

The group encounters another group of hunters who, without any apparent reason, begin targeting them. One of Franck's friends is shot. In the ensuing confrontation, they fight back and knock one of the attackers to the ground. The four men narrowly escape and decide to keep the incident a secret.

Back in his everyday life, Franck tries to restore normalcy with his wife Krystel, played by Mélanie Laurent. But in the following days, the feeling of being watched grows. Franck and his friends suspect that they themselves may have become targets and that the other group of hunters is plotting revenge.

The series combines classic thriller elements with psychological pressure: guilt, fear, and the constant feeling of being persecuted increasingly dominate the events.
