Two former child prodigies, a couple since the age of nine, wonder in their early thirties if their lives have lived up to their promise. Apple TV has released the first images from "Prodigies" and announced the release date. The series is created by Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe.
Apple TV is launching "Prodigies" on Wednesday, February 10, 2027, simultaneously worldwide and thus also in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This is according to Apple's announcement of the first look at the series. The streaming service Apple TV had already ordered the seven-part comedy in April 2025, meaning almost 22 months will pass before its launch. Until then, the current lineup for October 2026 includes the finales of "Slow Horses" and "Dark Matter" as well as the launch of "Nocturne."
Key Facts at a Glance

- Will Sharpe conceived, wrote and directed the series and plays the second lead role alongside Ayo Edebiri.

- The series is produced by SISTER, with Naomi De Pear among others, who also produced Sharpe's series "Flowers".
What Prodigies is about

Didi, played by Ayo Edebiri, and Ren, played by Will Sharpe, were considered child prodigies and have been together since they were nine. Now in their early thirties, they question their relationship and wonder if their fairly ordinary lives live up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood. According to Apple, this creates a new and frightening kind of chaos.
The story takes place in London, Virginia, and Tokyo. Apple describes the series as an unusual take on the romantic comedy, dealing with ambition, expectations, and the difficulties of long-term relationships.
Who is in front of and behind the camera
Will Sharpe is best known for his role in the second season of "The White Lotus" and the film "A Real Pain." In "Prodigies," he takes on four roles: idea, screenplay, direction, and lead role. Ayo Edebiri plays one of the main roles in "The Bear" and is also an executive producer on "Prodigies.".

The ensemble has an international cast:
- John Malkovich
- Tobias Menzies
- Yumi Asō
- Maria Bakalova
- Sophia Di Martino
- Rina Sawayama
- Reece Shearsmith
- Dame Meera Syal
- Andrene Ward-Hammond
The series is produced by SISTER, with Naomi De Pear, Katie Carpenter, and Jane Featherstone as executive producers. For Sharpe, it's a reunion: De Pear previously developed and produced his series "Flowers" for Channel 4 in 2016, for which Sharpe wrote and directed.

A comedy with the author's signature style
I find "Prodigies" particularly exciting because someone is in complete control of the entire series. Having the idea, script, direction, and lead role all in one person suggests a distinct style rather than a formulaic show. With only seven episodes, the season also remains compact.
Those who want to use the waiting time can get an impression of Sharpe's style with "Flowers": a family comedy with Olivia Colman that draws its humor from very serious topics.
