Apple has explained in the update description of macOS Catalina 10.15.6 that the new macOS version "fixes an issue where certain USB mice and trackpads can lose their connection". They were unable to detect any abnormalities when using accessories under macOS Catalina 10.15.6. However, the bug also appears to be present under macOS 11 Big Sur.
