Apple has released the fourth developer beta of iOS 26.5. Updated test versions of iPadOS 26.5, macOS 26.5 (“Tahoe”), watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and visionOS 26.5 are also available at the same time. The fourth beta likely marks the final stage of the testing phase.
After Beta 1, Beta 2, and Beta 3, iOS 26.5 is nearing its final release. Experience shows that this phase focuses almost exclusively on bug fixes, performance optimizations, and final refinements. New features are unlikely in a fourth beta. WWDC 2026 takes place from June 8th to 12th – iOS 26.5 is expected to be available in its final version beforehand.
iOS 26.5 Beta 4: What we know so far
At the time of publication, no official release notes detailing specific changes are available. The new version is currently being analyzed. A separate, more detailed report will follow as soon as any visible adjustments or system-relevant changes are documented.
In this advanced stage of beta development, you can expect primarily stability improvements, bug fixes, and minor visual corrections. Apple typically addresses known issues reported in earlier test versions in these final betas.
Looking back: What the previous betas have brought
The first beta Introduced the key new features of iOS 26.5: “Suggested Places” in Apple Maps, the preparation of the Advertising in Maps, the reactivation of End-to-end encryption for RCS, expanded EU support for third-party wearables and New subscription options in the App Store. What remained striking was Lack of new Siri features.
Beta 2 and Beta 3 focused on fine-tuning, targeted adjustments, and stabilizing the features introduced in Beta 1.
When can we expect the final release?
The final release of iOS 26.5 is expected in mid-May, in time for WWDC in June. Following Beta 4, a Release Candidate is expected in the coming days. Once the RC is released, the final version typically follows within a week.
Beta 4 is initially available exclusively to registered developers. A public beta should follow shortly.

Alongside iOS 26.5 Beta 4, Apple also released updated test versions of the following systems:
iPadOS 26.5 is expected to include final adjustments for iPad-specific use. macOS 26.5 ("Tahoe") is also in the final stages of development. Based on past experience, watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and visionOS 26.5 primarily receive stability improvements at this stage.
