ChatGPT is getting a new feature: Apple's music recognition tool Shazam is now available directly within the chat. This allows users to identify songs without leaving the app. Song searches run directly within ChatGPT, eliminating the need to switch to a separate application.

With this new integration, ChatGPT gains another everyday function. Instead of just answering questions, the service can now also identify music. It utilizes the full Shazam technology, the same technology used on Apple devices.

Use Shazam directly in ChatGPT

Music recognition in ChatGPT can be initiated with a request like "Shazam, what song is this?". A "Tap to Shazam" interface then appears, allowing you to identify the currently playing track. ChatGPT then displays the song name directly in the chat.

No separate app required

The Shazam app does not need to be installed to use this feature. It can be used on any platform. This is an important point because, although Shazam is an Apple service, its integration with ChatGPT works across platforms.

This is how Shazam is added

Shazam can be activated via the ChatGPT settings. To do this, open the "Apps" section in the settings, search for Shazam, and add the service. Afterwards, the feature can be used by starting a query with "Shazam".

Additional benefit with the Shazam app installed

If the Shazam app is already installed, songs identified in ChatGPT will also be saved in the Shazam library. This makes it easier to find identified tracks later.

Shazam now launches in ChatGPT

The new Shazam integration makes ChatGPT more practical for everyday use. Songs can be identified directly in the chat, including an inline preview, without switching apps or needing to install the Shazam app. At the same time, it remains easy to use and works just like Shazam on an Apple device. Shazam is being rolled out to ChatGPT starting today. The best products for you: Our Amazon storefront offers a wide selection of accessories, including those for HomeKit.
