Apple TV: Cape Fear launches June 5, 2026 Apfelpatient

Apple TV has released the teaser for the psychological thriller series “Cape Fear”. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are producing the project – it premieres on June 5th.

Apple TV expanded Apple TV has added one of the year's most prestigious series productions to its portfolio. With "Cape Fear," the streaming service is adapting the classic film of the same name into a limited series – produced by two of Hollywood's most important filmmakers and featuring Oscar-winning lead actors. The first teaser offers a glimpse of a psychological horror thriller that will be available weekly on Apple TV starting in June 2026.

What “Cape Fear” is about

The ten-part limited series is based on both the novel "The Executioners" and the acclaimed 1991 film adaptation directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg. It centers on happily married lawyers Anna and Tom Bowden, who once helped put the dangerous killer Max Cady behind bars. When Cady is released from prison, he has only one goal: revenge.

Two-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams plays Anna Bowden. Oscar winner Javier Bardem portrays the menacing Max Cady, and Patrick Wilson plays Tom Bowden. The ensemble cast also includes Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder.

Scorsese and Spielberg as Producers

The combination of Scorsese and Spielberg as executive producers lends “Cape Fear” a weight that stands out even in Apple TV’s prestigious catalog. Scorsese had already directed the film adaptation in 1991, starring Robert De Niro, with Spielberg serving as a producer. Their return for the series adaptation demonstrates how seriously Apple TV is taking the project.

Nick Antosca is the showrunner, also serving as creator and executive producer. Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum directs the pilot and also produces. The series is a joint production of UCP (Universal Studio Group) and Amblin Television.

“Cape Fear” premieres on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the first two episodes on Apple TV. A new episode will then be released weekly until the tenth and final episode airs on July 31. Apple is thus using the proven model of weekly releases, which has already worked well for series such as… Severance and silo has proven successful.
