The hit sci-fi series "Severance" on Apple TV will return for a third season. Following the huge success of the first two seasons, preparations for the next production phase are already underway. New statements from lead actor Adam Scott now provide the first concrete details about the start of filming, new characters, and a possible change in the directing team.

The information comes from an interview with the industry magazine Deadline, in which Scott spoke about the current state of production.

"Severance" remains an important series for Apple TV

"Severance" is one of the most popular series on Apple TV. The show blends science fiction, mystery, and psychological drama. At its heart is a technology that separates memories from those of work and personal life.

This idea and the mysterious plot surrounding Lumon Industries quickly made the series one of the streaming service's most important titles.

Filming for season 3 of "Severance" is about to begin

In an interview with Deadline, Adam Scott was asked when filming for the third season would begin. Previous reports had already suggested that production could start in April. Scott indirectly confirmed this, saying:

We’re starting very soon…Very, very soon. I’ll put two "verys" on that.

This statement suggests that filming for season 3 of "Severance" on Apple TV is imminent.

New characters for the upcoming season

Scott also confirmed that new characters will appear in the third season. However, no specific details about roles or actors have yet been revealed. His statement on the matter:

There will be exciting new characters, and we’ll kind of…get to that when we get to that.

This makes it clear that the series' cast of characters will be expanded.

Kogonada as a possible director of the third season

Another important point concerns the director. In the first two seasons, Ben Stiller directed a total of eleven episodes. However, he will not be directing any episodes himself for season 3, but will remain creatively involved in the series.

Reports indicate that renowned director Kogonada could direct most or even all episodes of the new season. Adam Scott spoke very positively about him in an interview, describing him as a great filmmaker.

These statements are considered strong confirmation of his involvement.

Possible launch date and price of Apple TV

An official release date for the new season has not yet been announced. If filming begins as expected in the spring, "Severance" Season 3 could potentially premiere on Apple TV in mid to late 2027.

The Apple TV streaming service currently costs €9.99 per month. Alternatively, the service can be subscribed to at a reduced overall price via the Apple One bundle together with other Apple services.

Production of "Severance" Season 3 will start soon

Production on season 3 of "Severance" for Apple TV is about to begin. Adam Scott confirmed that filming will start very soon. At the same time, new characters were hinted at, and a possible change of director to Kogonada seems likely.

Even though the release is not expected until 2027, current information shows that work on the next season is already well underway. (Image: Apple)
