Apple is planning a multi-day event for creative professionals in the US at the end of January. The gathering will take place in Los Angeles from January 27th to 29th and is already generating speculation. The reason: the timing, target audience, and setting of the event align remarkably well with potential product announcements. The focus is expected to be on new MacBook Pro models with more powerful chips.

Apple has long used events for more than just product launches. New devices are often embedded in themed formats specifically targeting certain user groups. Creative professionals have been one of the company's most important target audiences for years. The newly announced event follows this strategy and coincides with several other important Apple events.

Apple Experience: Invitation to selected creatives

Apple has invited select creatives to an "Apple Experience" event. The event will take place in Los Angeles from January 27th to 29th. Officially, the event is aimed at creatives from various fields, including video, music, and design.

The first concrete clue came from creative Petr Mara. He posted a photo of his invitation on Instagram on January 7th. At that time, the post went largely unnoticed. Only later did other users pick up the story, giving the event wider attention on social media. Mara had already been invited to an Apple event in September, where he was able to test the new iPhone 17 Pro models.

Connection to the new Creator Studio package

A key component of the event is likely to be Apple's new Creator Studio suite. This app bundle was recently announced and will be released on Wednesday, January 28th – coinciding with the event itself. The suite includes several professional applications, such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. The selection of apps clearly indicates that Apple is targeting professional users with high demands on both hardware and software.

The timing of the app launch and the event is considered strong evidence that Apple is deliberately linking the two topics. In this context, new hardware for professional users would also fit well into the overall picture.

New MacBook Pro models under discussion

Since October, the 14-inch MacBook Pro base model has been available with an M5 chip. Therefore, updating the more powerful variants is considered the next logical step. New MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected. These should deliver noticeable performance gains, especially for computationally intensive tasks such as video editing, music production, and software development.

Aside from the processor, Apple made only one other significant change to the base model in October: the switch to PCIe 5.0 storage. According to Apple, this enables up to twice the SSD read and write speeds compared to the previous generation. No major design changes have been introduced so far.

Proximity to the quarterly balance sheet as a further factor

Another important point is to look at Apple's financial calendar. The next quarterly earnings press conference is scheduled for Thursday, January 29th. Apple has a history of unveiling new products shortly before such events. This strategy regularly generates additional attention and sends positive signals ahead of the financial results. Therefore, many observers do not consider it a coincidence that the creative event runs precisely until this date.

Apple sets the framework for potential new hardware releases

The Apple Experience event in Los Angeles brings together several familiar Apple patterns: a focus on creative professionals, close integration of software and hardware, and a strategically chosen timeframe just before the quarterly earnings report. No product launch has been officially confirmed yet. Nevertheless, many factors suggest that Apple will use the opportunity to present new MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Whether this actually happens should become clear next week. (Image: Shutterstock / Anton Gvozdikov)
