Apple has implemented numerous improvements in iMessage in iOS 14 and expanded the messenger with useful functions. Below you will find a summary.

Apple has made some changes to iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and macOS 11 Big Sur. improvements to make iMessage even more attractive. Memojis also receive many new features.

iOS 14: Organize your chats

In the future, the new operating systems will allow chat histories to be better organized and important message channels to be pinned. This can be done by swiping from left to right over the respective chat. Pinned chats are then displayed as a bubble at the top. This shows Apple's attention to detail. If the user has unread messages and opens iMessage, a small speech bubble is displayed above the pinned chat. A total of nine chat histories can be pinned.

iOS 14 brings new Memoji stickers

The new Memoji stickers include gestures such as hugging, ghetto fist (a greeting) and blushing. But that's not all. Fashion-conscious Memojis will be especially pleased. Apple has added 16 new headgear as part of the update - most notably a face mask to match the global COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, there are now nine age options as well as new hairstyles and beards. The animated Memoji characters have also been made more expressive thanks to redesigned facial muscles.

iOS 14: Replies and mentions in group chats

Fundamental improvements have been made to group chats that have long been requested. Users can now reply directly to a speech bubble or address a person directly by entering their name. If someone is mentioned by name or receives a reply, the person is notified, regardless of whether the group chat is muted. These improvements have been requested for years and make it possible to make the conversation within a group much clearer. No more confusing replies or cumbersome markings.

Apple unifies iMessage

Images and a custom name can now also be set for group chats. Users can choose an image, an emoji or a Memoji sticker. But the most important thing is standardization. Thanks to Catalyst, the iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 version of iMessage was adopted one-to-one in macOS 11 Big Sur. All three versions are now on the same level and will be updated simultaneously in the future. The iMessage experience has been fundamentally improved. Anyone who has had difficulties with it up to now should be happy about it in the new generation at the latest. Would you like to support Apfelpatient further?
