Apple has done a great job with iOS 13 and iPadOS – never before has an update been so eagerly anticipated as this year. While many new features have been added, a lot has also been changed internally. Unfortunately, one important area of the App Store has been somewhat "lost" in the process: App Updates. Where the "Updates" section used to be, you'll now find Apple's new gaming service, Apple Arcade. It should be said at this point that the transition has actually been a success if you know where to look. However, to manually update apps on the iPhone and iPad under iOS 13 or iPadOS, you now have to make one more click.
How to update apps under iOS 13 or iPadOS
First of all – the process we've described is the same for iPad and iPhone – there are no differences here. Open the App Store app and navigate to your Apple ID profile picture in the top right corner. Done, right? Almost. A new window will open with various menu items. Start with your Apple ID, followed by Purchases, Subscriptions, Redeem Card or Code, and more. Further down, you'll see the "Upcoming Automatic Updates / Available Updates" section. This collects all app updates under iOS 13 or iPadOS – if you've disabled the "Auto-Update" function, you can manage the updates yourself from here. Directly below is the "Recently Updated" section. Here, users can view individual app updates and their associated details. By the way – here's how to enable "Automatic Updates": Open your device's Settings and navigate to the "iTunes & App Store" menu item further down.
