Apple released firmware version 4A400 for AirPods 2, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max on Tuesday evening. Interesting features were added, including conversation enhancement - or Conversation Boost.

The new firmware integrates the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max into the "Find My" network for the first time. But the Pro version benefits even more thanks to the update. As has now become known, Conversation Boost has been activated with the latest update. According to Apple, the feature is intended to help people with mild hearing problems to better connect in conversations. The function uses the beamforming microphones of the AirPods Pro to increase the volume of the person speaking in front of you so that you can better understand a face-to-face conversation.

AirPods Pro: How to activate Conversation Booster

To enable the feature, the AirPods Pro must be updated to firmware version 4A400, so make sure the automatic update has been applied. To check the firmware version, follow these steps:

  • Connect your AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Bluetooth.
  • Tap the “i” icon behind your AirPods Pro.
  • Scroll to the Info section.
  • Next to Version it should say 4A400.

Once your AirPods Pro have updated, you can enable Conversation Boost on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 as follows.

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Navigate to Accessibility.
  • Tap Audio/Visual.
  • Enable headphone accommodations.

That’s it. You can now use this useful feature at any time. In addition to conversation enhancers, the update also added “Find My” integration – more about it here. You don't have AirPods Pro yet? Then take a look at Amazon. There you can currently get the white earbuds for 189 euros instead of 279 euros dust off. (Photo by Unsplash / Miguel Angel Avila)
