In addition to iPhone and iPad rumors, there have already been isolated reports about revised MacBook models. Now new details about upcoming MacBooks have been published.

The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported back to investors in a comprehensive note. In it, he explains the update of the MacBook Pro (13-inch version) and MacBook Air series. Accordingly, these devices will also receive the new scissor-based keyboard, which was already used in the MacBook Pro 16-inch at the end of 2019. Apple will present both products in the second quarter of 2020 - according to Kuo. According to earlier reports, the revised MacBook Pro could appear with a 14-inch display, but Kuo left open whether this would be this model - but it is likely.

MacBooks with ARM processors to follow

Kuo also explained that the first MacBooks with an ARM-based processor could appear as early as late 2020 or early 2021. According to a MacRumors Article:

In a research note obtained by MacRumors today, Kuo said Apple plans to launch MacBook models with its own custom processors in the fourth quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021. Kuo did not specify whether these will be MacBook Pro or MacBook Air models, or both, nor did he share any further details.

Reports that the MacBooks on ARM-based processors has been around for some time. But speculation has increased in recent weeks, as an earlier prediction by Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that Apple's first proprietary processor would debut in a MacBook in 2021. Now Kuo seems to have slightly revised that prediction, but whether he will be right remains to be seen. (Photo by blackzheep / Bigstockphoto)
