Just days before the iPhone 17 unveiling, evidence is mounting about an unusual detail. New leaks suggest that Apple is opting for a bold, vibrant color for the upcoming Pro model. The possible orange color, in particular, is causing controversy and could mark the most striking design in the history of the Pro series.

Traditionally, the iPhone Pro models have come in muted, sober colors—often silver, black, or darker shades. While there have been slight variations over the years, such as shades of blue or gold, Apple has so far been reluctant to use striking colors in the high-end segment. That's precisely why the iPhone 17 could be a turning point: a bold color move that redefines the character of the Pro line.

Leak from Sonny Dickson causes a stir

Well-known leaker Sonny Dickson has published images allegedly showing camera control buttons for the iPhone 17. These photos reveal various color hues that could provide clues to the upcoming color palette. The first image shows yellow, green, blue, pink, and black. These variants fit in with the existing scheme and could well be part of the standard models. More exciting, however, is a second image showing darker blue, silver, and a bright orange. This orange isn't just any color; it's strongly reminiscent of the action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. Apple deliberately gave this button a striking color to make it stand out. If the iPhone 17 Pro actually comes in this color, it would be a first. Apple has never used such a vibrant color for a Pro model before.

Orange as a statement for the iPhone 17 Pro

Until now, the color palette of the Pro models has been characterized by restraint. Colors like graphite, gold, silver, and, most recently, natural titanium finishes represented understatement. With the iPhone 17 Pro and a possible orange variant, Apple could now create a clear contrast. Orange would not only be a visual statement, but also a deliberate differentiation from the standard models. Especially in the premium segment, this color choice could demonstrate that high-end doesn't necessarily have to look restrained. For fans who have been hoping for a more striking Pro iPhone, this would be a significant step forward.

Presentation in September

Whether the leaked colors actually make it into the final product lineup will become clear very soon. Apple has scheduled its big "awe-dropping" event for September 9th at Apple Park in Cupertino. The new iPhone generation will be unveiled there, and at the very latest, it will become clear whether the bright orange iPhone 17 Pro will actually become a reality.

Color palette in focus: The iPhone 17 sets new accents

The iPhone 17 is already making headlines before its official launch. The potential orange color for the Pro model, in particular, stands out, breaking with the previous tradition of muted colors. If Apple takes this step, it would be the most striking design update in the history of the Pro series. One thing is clear: The iPhone 17 will be the center of attention not only for its technology, but also for its new color palette.
