Paris, France - Sep 24, 2021: Vintage Apple iPod Touch with price tag 249 euros for sale in Apple Store used as a music player and a handheld gaming device, but it can also be used as a digital camera, a web browser and for messaging

Apple today removed the iPod touch product page from its website in all remaining countries where the page was still available, such as the US, UK, Australia and Germany, thus saying a final goodbye to the portable music player.

Apple had already discontinued the iPod touch in early May announced and now, almost a month later, the device can no longer be ordered from the online store. While supplies last, the iPod touch can still be purchased from selected authorized Apple retailers. However, stocks are probably already very limited. Apple's newly announced software update iOS 16 is not compatible with all iPod touch models, according to Apple's website.

"The spirit of the iPod lives on"

The iPod, released in October 2001, was one of Apple's most iconic products. But the device's discontinuation became inevitable over time, as there are now a variety of Apple products that can play music, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod mini, and many more. The latest seventh-generation iPod touch model was introduced in May 2019. "The spirit of the iPod lives on," Apple's chief marketing officer Greg Joswiak said in the press release last month (still available on Amazon). (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
