Sony is looking to expand its mobile gaming efforts, with a job posting suggesting the company intends to adapt various PlayStation franchises to be playable on iPhone and iPad in the future.

The job posting is looking for someone to fill the role of "Head of Mobile, PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment" in California. The job posting states that the candidate will "lead all aspects of expanding game development from consoles and PCs to mobile and live services," with a focus on "successfully adapting the most popular PlayStation franchises for mobile devices." The successful applicant will also be responsible for "building and scaling a team of mobile executives" and will serve as "the leader of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios." So, from the job posting, it seems Sony is looking to advance its mobile gaming.

PlayStation franchises on iPhone & iPad: Sony already has experience with mobile gaming

But it could take a while for the whole thing to be realized. As Eurogamer reported, the roadmap for the mobile business is said to span three to five years. The PlayStation Mobile publishing label already exists and operates, and has resulted in some mobile titles, including "Run Sackboy! Run!" and "Uncharted: Fortune Hunter." It also served as the publisher for some PC ports of PlayStation games, including "Horizon: Zero Dawn" and "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture." Previously, Sony had a stronger presence in mobile gaming, for example with the Xperia Play smartphone and its PlayStation Portable and PS Vita handheld game consoles. There is also the option to play PlayStation games on an iPhone or iPad by using the Remote Play app to stream from a console over the network. (Photo by inmicco / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
