In the age of digital transformation, it is essential to stay up to date with the latest technology. macOS Sequoia, Apple's latest operating system, brings with it many exciting features. However, there are certain limitations for Intel Mac users. In this article, you will learn which features are not available on Intel Macs.

Apple has reached another milestone with the launch of macOS Sequoia. While the new features are impressive, there are clear differences between support for Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs. Here we'll look at which features are specifically designed for the newer Apple Silicon processors and why Intel users will have to do without them.

Apple Intelligence

One of the most notable innovations in macOS Sequoia is Apple Intelligence. This feature, based on artificial intelligence, is only available on Macs with Apple Silicon processors. To take advantage of this technology, you need at least an M1 chip. This means that Intel users will not benefit from Apple's first major step into generative AI. Apple Intelligence enables you to complete tasks faster and more efficiently by analyzing and optimizing your user behavior.

live audio transcription

Another feature exclusive to Apple silicon devices is Live Audio Transcription. This feature allows you to record audio sessions in Apple Notes while creating live transcriptions. These transcriptions are searchable and can be combined with comments, checklists, or documents. Live Audio Transcription is available in several English-speaking regions, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

iPhone mirroring

A pleasant surprise for Intel Mac users is the availability of the iPhone mirroring feature. This feature allows you to display your iPhone's screen on your Mac and control it with the keyboard and trackpad. iPhone mirroring is available on both Apple silicon and Intel-based Macs with the T2 security chip. It is important that both your iPhone and Mac are signed in with the same Apple ID, two-factor authentication is enabled, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on.

Functional differences in macOS Sequoia: What you need to know

macOS Sequoia offers a wealth of features that can greatly improve your productivity and user experience. While certain features like Apple Intelligence and Live Audio Transcription are only available on Apple silicon devices, there are still impressive features like iPhone mirroring that can be used on both Intel and Apple silicon Macs. By understanding the compatibility requirements and available features, you can get the most out of your Mac and take full advantage of the power of macOS Sequoia. Looking for new accessories? Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
