In November, three new Mac devices with the brand new M1 chip were introduced. While they are impressive in terms of performance, they currently do not seem to be particularly reliable when it comes to Bluetooth. A software update should now solve the problem.

Shortly after the start of delivery of the M1 MacBook Air, M1 MacBook Pro 13-inch and M1 Mac mini models, first reports documentedthat customers are experiencing issues with Bluetooth connectivity. Both first- and third-party peripherals, including mice, keyboards, and headphones, are said to suffer from intermittent connectivity. The list of affected devices also includes Apple AirPods. However, not every user seems to be affected by the problem. Until recently, there was no consensus on whether the problems were due to a software bug or something deeper, as Apple has not commented on the issue.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 could solve Bluetooth problems

The 8-Bit presents However, The Atlantic writer Ian Bogost, who was personally affected by the Bluetooth problems, reported on Sunday tweeted that Apple has informed him that "a fix is in the works and will be available shortly." It therefore appears to be a software-related problem - as was initially suspected. macOS Big Sur 11.2 is currently in beta. The specific new features or changes in it are not yet known. The problem may be fixed with this update. Alternatively, the company could also release macOS Big Sur 11.1.1. (Image: Apple)
