Apple is once again causing a stir in the technology world. Yesterday evening, the company not only released the latest updates for iOS and macOS, but also the first preview versions of iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1. These updates contain references to upcoming products that have not yet been officially announced. Below you will find out everything about the new, as yet unknown model numbers of Macs, iPhones and iPads that have appeared in macOS Sequoia.

For years, Apple has been known for its innovative strength and ability to surprise the technology world again and again. With the latest updates, they have once again aroused the curiosity of fans and technology enthusiasts. In particular, the discovery of new model numbers by Twitter user “aaronp613” has caused a lot of speculation provided. What could Apple launch next?

New iPhones

For the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, Apple used four model numbers: “iPhone15,4”, “iPhone15,5”, “iPhone16,1” and “iPhone16,2”. Now eight previously unknown model numbers have been discovered. “aaronp613” speculates that these numbers could belong to the iPhone 17, but it is more likely that they are different model variants for different geographical markets. Another possibility is that Apple is planning models with their own cellular modem, which will receive separate model numbers. The newly emerged model numbers partly match a report from the beginning of July, which also mentioned numbers with the prefix iPhone17.

New Macs

There is also news about Macs. A total of eight new Mac model numbers were discovered in the description files of macOS 15.1. However, these do not allow any precise conclusions to be drawn about the specific models. It is possible that the models with the Mac16 prefix are the new MacBook Pro models with the M4 chip that Apple could launch at the end of the year. This speculation is based on past product releases and Apple's previous naming schemes.

New iPads

Four new iPad model numbers starting with iPad17 were also found in the description files. Again, it is difficult to draw precise conclusions about the product lines. Since Apple only released new iPad Pro and iPad Air models in May 2024, these could be new versions of the iPad or iPad mini. Another possibility is that these models are equipped with the M5 chip. The same model numbers were already reported by a leaker a month ago published, which are now confirmed in macOS 15.1.

Excitement about new Apple products: macOS Sequoia contains hints

The discovery of these new model numbers has sent the tech community into a frenzy. While there is still a lot of speculation about what new products Apple is actually planning, the anticipation remains high. With each new release, Apple manages to exceed expectations and delight users with innovative technologies. Stay tuned to not miss the latest developments and official announcements from Apple.
