Apple released iOS 13.2 for all users a few hours ago. The HomePod was also included - but it now has to deal with a technical knockout.
The new HomePod update was supposed to introduce long-awaited features such as multi-user mode and handoff. Playing ambient music should also be possible from now on. But for some HomePods it's now "time to say goodbye". The new iOS 13.2 update does not seem to be well-disposed towards every HomePod - users are reporting frozen devices in various forums. Affected HomePods are said to have simply been paralyzed. According to users on Reddit, Twitter and Co., only a rotating light - red or white - is displayed on the top of the speaker. In both cases, the HomePod is said to be completely unusable - a hard reset was unsuccessful. At the moment, there seems to be no solution to save affected devices. It can be assumed that Apple will withdraw the update and replace it with a new version.
My HomePod has been affected – what now? Affected users must go to an Apple Store or authorized service partner to have a free replacement carried out.
