Apple is offering customers who have had to undergo costly repairs on their iPhone or Mac a second chance to purchase AppleCare+ insurance for the device, but with some conditions.

According to an internal memo shared with MacRumors leaked Apple users who get their iPhone or Mac repaired at the Apple Store or an authorized service provider can get a second chance to purchase AppleCare+. The caveat is that the product still has its original one-year warranty and the device must pass inspection. MacRumors gives an example of how this second chance works for those who plan to purchase AppleCare+:

Second chance to purchase AppleCare+: Also in Germany

An example scenario: A customer named John purchases a new iPhone but decides not to pay for AppleCare+ coverage for the device. A few months later, John drops the iPhone and the screen cracks. John takes the iPhone to an Apple Store to have it repaired. Because he chose not to purchase AppleCare+, he incurs a large out-of-warranty service charge. Because the iPhone is less than a year old, John is advised that he can still purchase AppleCare+ for the device so that future repairs are not as expensive.

The US blog notes that this rule applies to all regions where AppleCare+ is currently available and that any repairs before AppleCare+ is paid for will be charged in full, including in this country. (Photo by Unsplash / Joel Rohland)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
