Apple's latest iPad Pro is the thinnest device the company has ever made, but the question is whether it is sturdy enough to resist bending - a concern that is still present due to the past "Bendgate" controversy. Below we look at the measures Apple has taken to improve the durability of the 2024 iPad Pro.

Looking back to 2018, when Apple admitted that the iPad Pro models might have a slight bend due to the manufacturing process, concerns about the device structure remain. Despite Apple's assurances that this bend does not affect functionality, many users were disappointed by the lack of robustness of their expensive devices.

Technical improvements to avoid structural problems

To address the structural issues, Apple has adjusted the design for the 2024 model of the iPad Pro. Loud According to John Ternus, Apple's senior VP of hardware engineering, the new model includes a metal cover over the motherboard that not only improves heat dissipation but also significantly increases the rigidity of the device through a central rib. This design change is intended to ensure structural integrity even under stress.

Reactions and first evaluations

Initial reviews suggest that the design changes have been received positively. The newly integrated metal cover seems to provide the necessary stability to protect the device from similar problems as previous models. Despite the device's impressive thinness, early testers report improved robustness.

Price and availability

The iPad Pro 2024 starts at a price of 1,199 euros and is available through Apple's website and authorized retailers. The price reflects the technological improvements and the measures Apple has taken to ensure the quality and durability of its products.

iPad Pro 2024: Apple's answer to past design mistakes

The iPad Pro 2024 represents Apple's attempt to correct the mistakes of the past while pushing the boundaries of what is technologically possible in terms of design and thinness. Although initial tests show an improvement, only time will tell if the new measures are enough to fully restore consumer confidence. Future tests and everyday use will show if the new iPad Pro can live up to expectations. (Image: Apple)
