Apple has launched the next testing phase for its current software generation. The first developer betas of iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4 are now available for download. This release comes shortly after the final rollout of version 26.3 and marks the beginning of the next regular development cycle.

As is typical with early point updates, the first beta is initially aimed at registered developers. Public beta versions are expected to follow in the coming weeks, once Apple has evaluated sufficient feedback from the developer community.

Start of a new development phase

With the .4 versions, Apple begins another refinement phase within the current system generation. Following the functional and regulatory adjustments in iOS 26.2 and iOS 26.3, the focus is now, as experience has shown, on internal optimizations, stability, and the further development of existing system components.

No concrete, visible new features have been documented at this time. This is standard practice, as early betas primarily establish the technical foundations upon which later features can be built.

Apple Intelligence and Siri are the focus of development

The new beta phase is expected to bring further progress, particularly with Apple Intelligence and Siri. Apple is continuously working to expand AI capabilities, refine existing models, and prepare for new system integrations.

Discovered changes or new features related to Apple Intelligence and Siri will be covered separately and in detail as usual, once they are confirmed.

Unified beta launch across all platforms

Apple is once again making the new betas available simultaneously for all platforms:

  • iOS 26.4
  • iPadOS 26.4
  • macOS 26.4
  • watchOS 26.4
  • tvOS 26.4
  • visionOS 26.4

This synchronization allows Apple to consistently develop cross-platform frameworks, services, and APIs. It also provides developers with a clearly structured testing period across all devices.

iOS 26.4 begins the next development cycle

With the first beta of iOS 26.4, a new phase of system maintenance begins. Further beta versions are expected in the coming weeks, in which Apple will make targeted improvements, optimize features, and potentially activate individual functions gradually. As soon as concrete new features become visible in iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, or the other systems, we will provide separate and detailed coverage. So – stay tuned! Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
