Apple has released the new beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2, which feature exciting improvements in the area of artificial intelligence (Apple Intelligence). Highlights include the integration of ChatGPT in Siri, new creative tools such as Genmoji and Image Playground, and expanded API functions. These updates offer users numerous new possibilities on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Apple continues its focus on innovation and intelligent technologies with the new beta versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS. After the first Apple Intelligence features were introduced with iOS 18.1, the second beta round is about refining and expanding these technologies. The updates for iPad and Mac are just as important as the iOS update, as they facilitate interactions across platforms and provide new APIs.

The most important new features in iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2

  • Genmoji: Create personalized emojis with simple text inputs. This function can also be used in third-party apps via an API.
  • Image Playground: A tool to quickly create and insert images into documents, also with API support.
  • Siri and ChatGPT: Siri can now answer more complex queries using ChatGPT.
  • Visual Intelligence (iPhone 16): Use the camera to ask questions and get information directly.

Special features of iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2

  • iPadOS 18.2 brings the same features as iOS 18.2, optimized for the larger screen area and multitasking.
  • macOS Sequoia 15.2 introduces all Apple Intelligence tools without the geographic restrictions of iOS and iPadOS.

iOS 18.2 and Co.: Important information

The updates are currently only available on devices that support Apple Intelligence. Important: For EU countries, there is a geo-lock on iPhone and iPad that does not allow Apple Intelligence. However, there are no such restrictions on the Mac as long as the language is changed to US English. Looking for the best accessories? Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
