The iCloud Private Relay is part of the new features introduced in iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and Co. Now the feature will also be accessible to beta testers.
Apple has now officially made the seventh beta of iOS 15 and Co. available to registered testers. According to the update description, iCloud Private Relay will now also be available to beta testers to allow Apple to "collect additional feedback and improve website compatibility" before the feature is officially introduced. Private Relay is currently in beta. Some websites may have issues, such as displaying content for the wrong region or requiring additional steps to log in.
iCloud Private Relay is a service designed to ensure that Safari traffic leaving an iPhone, iPad, or Mac is encrypted by two separate internet relays, preventing companies from using personal information such as IP address, location, and browsing activity to build detailed profiles about Apple device users.
According to the update description, a number of issues have also been fixed:
- The Bay Bridge now scales correctly at high zoom levels in the Maps app.
- Siri can be used to switch to a focus other than Do Not Disturb.
- Safari extensions now display correctly in the Smart Search field when Show separate tab bar is selected.
- The space bar in the search bar in Safari is no longer cut off.
- VPN apps now connect when they use a private API, which no longer exists in iOS 15.
- Collapsing the hardware keyboard bar now correctly invokes leading and trailing edge changes for UIKeyboardLayoutGuide.
