Apple has released iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1 with important security patches for potentially exploitable vulnerabilities, as well as a watchOS 8.7.1 and macOS 12.5.1 bug fix update.
These are the first updates since July 20 for iOS, iPadOS, and more. The last few updates have not included any notable changes, and the other operating systems are currently in beta testing and will likely take precedence. Apple has released some Details about the security patches included in the update. Reports indicate that the patches could be actively exploited, so users are urged to update as soon as possible. A vulnerability in the kernel allowed an application to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the kernel. An out-of-bounds write issue was fixed with an improved bounds checking feature.

The build number for watchOS 8.7.1 (available only for Apple Watch Series 3) is 19U67, down from 19U66, and with respect to macOS 12.5.1, the build number is 21G83.
