Apple has now officially released iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, macOS 12.4, and more, adding new features to the Podcasts app and making fixes in HomeKit.

Until now, iOS 15.5 and others have been considered very small updates. But the new versions have a lot to offer when it comes to bug fixes and security vulnerabilities. According to Apple, iOS 15.5 contains almost 30 security fixes and macOS 12.4 over 50. Apple has published all the details of the security fixes in its latest software for iPhone, iPad, Mac and more on its support page. In both iOS and macOS, many of the vulnerabilities could allow malicious apps to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Another report for iOS states:

iOS 15.5 & macOS 12.4 fix numerous security vulnerabilities and more

A remote attacker may be able to cause an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.

Specifically on the Mac, one of the over 50 vulnerabilities has been fixed, which states that "photo location information may persist after being removed using Preview Inspector." Important security updates are also available for macOS Big Sur with 11.6.6, macOS Catalina, Xcode 13.4 and watchOS 8.6. We usually attach the list of vulnerabilities to the article. However, due to the volume, we have refrained from doing so this time. If you would like to see the individual fixes verbatim, you can find them all in Apple's official directory. Simply open this support page and select the respective operating system. (Photo by GreenTech9947 / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
