Apple will officially announce iOS 16 and Co. at the WWDC 2022 kick-off event on June 6th. While the first beta is always made available exclusively to developers, the first public beta usually appears a little later. But now it is claimed that voluntary beta testers will have to be a little more patient.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman explained in a new tweet that the schedule for releasing the iOS 16 beta builds looks a little different this year. According to the journalist, Apple plans to release the first public beta of iOS 16 along with the third developer beta in July. Usually, the first public beta of a new iOS version comes out along with the second developer beta. The reason for this is that the current internal builds are "a bit buggy." Therefore, Apple engineers need more time to make the iOS 16 beta stable enough before it can be installed on iPhone and iPad.

iOS 16 Rumors at a Glance

It's worth noting that iOS builds are created days or even weeks before the official release. This means that Apple has probably completed the first beta of iOS 16 by now, which will be available to developers shortly after WWDC 2022 next month. According to recent rumors, iOS 16 is expected to bring significant improvements to notifications and a new interface for iPadOS multitasking. Advanced settings for Focus mode are also said to be part of the new features. As for watchOS 9, another report from Gurman reveals that the update will bring "important improvements for activity and health tracking." He also believes that most watch faces will be redesigned to take advantage of the larger screen of the Apple Watch Series 7. (Photo by Unsplash / Daniel Romero)
