Earlier this week, iOS 13.1.2 was released to all users to fix previous bugs from iOS 13 and iOS 13.1.1 – now Apple has stopped signing iOS 13.1.1.

The patch iOS 13.1.1 was released by Apple exactly one week ago, Friday September 27th. Only three days later, iOS 13.1.2 Apple has now officially stopped signing iOS 13.1.1. This means that users can no longer switch from iOS 13.1.2 to iOS 13.1.1 - which would not have been advisable anyway, as the version contained some bugs.

"Permanent jailbreak" possible

With this step, Apple wants to encourage users to update their software and prevent jailbreaks. However, the latter should be unnecessary for iPhones from 2011 to 2017. An exploit was recently discovered that allows a permanent jailbreak on all iPhones from the 4S generation to the iPhone X - regardless of the iOS version. The reason for this security gap is a hardware error at the heart of the devices - read more here. (Photo by sarayut / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
