Apple's efforts in the fight against COVID-19 should already be known to attentive readers. But it seems that our favorite brand is planning more.

Apple announced a new cooperation with Google on Friday in the fight against COVID-19. It involves tracking infection chains - a topic that is causing a lot of discussion. But Apple's press release was not the only interesting topic that day. The US blog MacRumors has a really interesting WHOIS entry can be found. According to this, Apple registered the domain "AppleCoronavirus.com" on Friday and thus claimed it for itself. The WHOIS entry lists Apple Inc. as the registering organization. The registry is CSC Corporate Domains, a company that manages domains for large companies and has been used by Apple for years.

Lots of room for speculation

The domain does not currently point to an active website. Even though Apple's plans for the new internet address are not known, the registration still seems interesting, as it took place on the same day that Apple announced the new cooperation with Google. It is therefore not known what purpose AppleCoronavirus.com will serve, but there is a theory. According to the press release, Apple wants to create a contact tracing platform together with Google, and this may be where the new domain will find its place. Let's wait and see. You can find out everything about the press release below. (Photo by digitalista / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
