The Clicks Communicator is a new smartphone entering the market, deliberately different from traditional devices. It was developed as a complement to the iPhone, not a direct replacement. The focus is on communication rather than media consumption: writing messages, answering emails, being reachable – all without the constant distractions of feeds, videos, or apps vying for attention.

Behind the device is Clicks Technology, known for the BlackBerry-like Clicks Keyboard for the iPhone. With the Clicks Communicator, the company pursues the same idea, but as a standalone smartphone. Jeff Gadway, Chief Marketing Officer of Clicks Technology, compares the concept to a Kindle compared to an iPad: a specialized product for a clear purpose. In the case of the Clicks Communicator, the goal is to communicate securely and with focus in a noisy digital environment.

Michael Fisher, co-founder of Clicks Technology and host of the tech channel MrMobile, also sees the device as part of a growing trend. The dual-mobile lifestyle is becoming increasingly common. Some people separate work and private life, while others consciously seek less distraction. A phone that motivates action rather than distraction fits perfectly into this development.

Android 16 with a special launcher

Clicks Communicator runs on Android 16, but doesn't use a traditional home screen. Instead, it employs a custom-designed launcher tailored for communication. Messaging and email apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, and Gmail are directly visible. The goal is to provide direct access to conversations and messages without being interrupted by other content.

Physical keyboard and prompt key

Like the Clicks Keyboard for the iPhone, the Clicks Communicator also features a real, physical keyboard. It's an integral part of the device and is designed for those who type a lot and value precise input. It's complemented by a side-mounted prompt key. Holding this key down allows you to dictate a text message, making it easier to reply quickly, for example, on the go or in situations where typing is impractical.

Hardware and equipment overview

Despite its minimalist design, the Clicks Communicator offers a full range of smartphone features. It includes a 4,000 mAh battery designed to reliably power everyday use. Internal storage is 256 GB and can be expanded by up to 2 TB via microSD card.

For photos, there's a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera. It charges via USB-C and also has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. For mobile connectivity, the device supports both physical SIM cards and eSIM and works with 5G and LTE networks worldwide.

Price, colors and availability

The Clicks Communicator is available in Smoke, Clover, and Onyx. The regular introductory price is $499. Those who place a $199 deposit by February 27th will receive the device at a reduced price of $399. According to the official announcement, shipping is expected later this year. However, as with many pre-orders, caution is advised before actual shipment.

Presentation at CES 2026

A public unveiling of the device is planned for next week. The Clicks Communicator will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The trade show is considered one of the most important gatherings for the tech industry and offers the perfect setting to introduce this unusual smartphone concept to a wider audience.

The Clicks Communicator as a conscious counter-design

The Clicks Communicator isn't a smartphone for everything, and that's precisely its strength. Designed as a secondary device alongside the iPhone, it focuses consistently on communication, focus, and conscious use. A physical keyboard, a customized Android launcher, and robust hardware combine to create a device that clearly distinguishes itself from conventional smartphones. Whether this concept proves convincing in everyday use remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that the Clicks Communicator aims to provide a counterpoint to constant digital distractions. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
