Pluribus gets Apple TV a Gotham Award Apfelpatient

Apple TV won the Breakthrough Drama Series category at the Gotham Television Awards for its series "Pluribus." Two Hollywood stars also received honorary awards.

Apple's streaming success story continues to grow: With "Pluribus," one of its most recent original productions has won one of the most prestigious US industry awards for emerging series. This accolade follows the six nominations Apple TV received at this year's Gotham Awards and joins a remarkable string of industry honors. In addition to the series win, two prominent tributes were the focus of the evening.

A victory for Apple's most-watched drama series

In the Breakthrough Drama Series category, the award for the strongest new drama series, "Pluribus" emerged victorious. Created by Vince Gilligan, the series is a genre-defying production in which the unhappiest person in the world must save humanity from happiness. Within the Apple catalog, "Pluribus" is the most-watched drama series and is now available worldwide via Apple TV.

Honorary titles for two Hollywood stars

Beyond the series win, the Gotham Awards presented two special honors to actresses associated with Apple. Kerry Washington, lead actress and executive producer of "Imperfect Women," received the Spotlight Tribute – an award for individuals whose projects have particularly captivated a global audience throughout the year. The award was presented by "Imperfect Women" director Lesli Linka Glatter.

Michelle Pfeiffer, star and executive producer of "Margo's Got Money Troubles," was honored with the Legend Tribute, which recognizes particularly beloved and influential television personalities. The award was presented by her co-star Greg Kinnear.

Not Apple's first Gotham success

These successes build on a string of previous Gotham Awards. In 2025, the industry satire "The Studio" won in the Breakthrough Comedy Series category – a title that also garnered attention at the BAFTAs. In 2022, "Pachinko" triumphed in the Breakthrough Series – Long Form category, and in 2021, the later Oscar-winning film "CODA" took home two Gotham Awards: one for Emilia Jones as Breakthrough Performer and one for Troy Kotsur in the Outstanding Supporting Performance category. The Gotham Awards recognize talent both in front of and behind the camera and support the work of the non-profit Gotham Film & Media Institute.

Apple's award record continues to gain momentum

In total, Apple's original films, documentaries, and series have garnered 831 wins out of 3,557 nominations to date – and the number is still rising. Among the standout titles are the Emmy-winning comedies "The Studio" and "Ted Lasso," the global phenomenon "Severance," the drama series "Pluribus," the Oscar-winning "CODA," and the feature film "F1," considered the most successful sports film of all time. This accumulation of awards underscores the trajectory Apple TV has pursued since its launch in November 2019 – as the first all-original streaming service to be available worldwide from the outset.

The breadth of the current offering is demonstrated by the service's program schedule over the summer months.
