At the Apple TV Press Day event, Apple gave journalists a comprehensive preview of the upcoming series, films, and sports broadcasts coming to Apple TV in 2026. The event was less of a grand spectacle and more of a factual overview of what subscribers can expect this year. It became clear that Apple is strategically expanding its streaming service and is clearly focusing on high-quality original productions.

Part of the Press Day event took place behind closed doors. Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Services, held a private conversation with Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. Simultaneously, several actors took to the stage to present their new projects. Apple also officially confirmed its sports offerings for 2026, which will continue to include Formula 1, MLB, and MLS. In addition to previously announced formats, several new series and films were presented in detail for the first time, or given specific release dates.

New series launches on Apple TV in 2026

Imperfect Women

This psychological thriller stars Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, and an ensemble cast. The series tells the story of a crime that destroys the lives of three women who have been close friends for decades. Thematically, it explores guilt, loyalty, and the long-term consequences of traumatic events. Premiere date: March 18, 2026.

Margo's Got Money Troubles

Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nick Offerman star in this comedic family drama. The story follows Margo, a college dropout who works as a waitress at Hooters, has a child, and must simultaneously navigate financial worries and a complicated family situation. Release date: April 15, 2026.

Widow's Bay

Matthew Rhys plays the mayor of Widow's Bay. The town is in economic crisis and overshadowed by a long-hidden secret. The mayor tries to revitalize the town as dark truths are gradually revealed. Release date: April 29, 2026.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed

This series combines thriller elements with dark humor. Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson star in the lead roles. The story centers on a recently divorced mother who believes she has witnessed a murder. This sets off a dangerous chain of blackmail, violence, and unexpected entanglements that even involve youth soccer. Premiere date: May 20, 2026.

Cape Fear

Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson star in the remake of the 1991 film. Two lawyers must confront the consequences of their past when a notorious murderer, whom they themselves put behind bars, is released from prison and seeks revenge. Release date: June 5, 2026.

Lucky

Anya Taylor-Joy plays a young woman who has left her former life of crime behind. However, to finally escape her past, she is forced to re-accept and actively use her darker side. In theaters July 15, 2026.

New movies on Apple TV

Mayday

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh star in a buddy comedy set against the backdrop of the Cold War. An elite US Navy pilot is shot down behind enemy lines and discovered by a former KGB agent with a pronounced fondness for American culture. Release date: September 4, 2026.

Matchbox The Movie

John Cena plays an undercover CIA agent who involves his childhood friends in a worldwide chase to avert a global threat. The film is inspired by Mattel's Matchbox toy cars. Release date: October 9, 2026.

Way of the Warrior Kid

Chris Pratt stars as Jake, a highly decorated Navy SEAL. He spends the summer with Marc, a boy who is being bullied. Through a training program based on his SEAL training, the boy learns to confront his problems with courage instead of violence. Release date: November 20, 2026.

Recurring series and confirmed seasons

Apple TV will also continue established formats in 2026:

  • Shrinking – Season 3 is already available for streaming.
  • The Last Thing He Told Me – Season 2 starts on February 20, 2026
  • Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – Season 2 starts on February 27, 2026
  • For All Mankind – Season 5 will be released on March 27, 2026
  • Your Friends & Neighbors – Season 2 starts on April 3, 2026
  • Criminal Record – Season 2 starts on April 22, 2026
  • Sugar – Season 2 will be released on June 19, 2026
  • Ted Lasso – Season 4 is scheduled for summer 2026

Positioning Apple TV in the streaming market

With its multitude of new and returning series, as well as a growing selection of films, Apple TV is no longer a niche offering. While Disney and Netflix still boast significantly larger media libraries, Apple is considered one of the strongest providers in terms of average production quality.

Apple has also managed to secure almost all of its necessary back catalogs. Fraggle Rock, Peanuts, and the non-fiction series Long Way are the exceptions. The Apple TV app is available on most modern platforms and smart TVs. The service costs €9.99 per month or is included in any Apple One subscription.
