According to recent reports, Apple is working with Microsoft on a controller-friendly version of the Apple TV app for Xbox consoles. A first preview is already available.

The Apple TV app was discovered in a new preview of the upcoming Xbox system software. The application appears to be identical in form and function to its counterparts for set-top boxes and smart TVs. As soon as the app is available, users can download the application, log in with an Apple ID and access their existing Apple TV+ subscription and iTunes content. While Apple has already introduced the app on various smart TVs and Roku devices, consoles are still pending. When the Apple TV app will debut on the Xbox is currently unknown from the official side. But the Windows Central platform wants experience that the entertainment application could launch alongside the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10. Users who already have access to the Apple TV app report that it appears to be a finished product, which means the release may be coming soon.

Xbox Game Pass and iOS: A solution in sight?

While Apple and Microsoft seem to be on the same page in this regard, it remains to be seen whether the Xbox Game Pass will also be of use to iOS users at some point. The game streaming service was blocked for iOS due to Apple's App Store guidelines. A recent revision The App Store rules will allow services like Xbox Game Pass to work on iOS, but with some restrictions. Instead of downloading a single app to stream all games, each title on the service will need its own application in the App Store, which will then be run to play. Whether Microsoft will ultimately accept this and implement it remains to be seen. Perhaps the latest project between the two companies could create certain advantages. (Image: Microsoft / Xbox)
