Apple announced today that the company has acquired the classical music streaming service Primephonic and will integrate it into Apple Music.
Primephonic offers an "outstanding listening experience" with search functions optimized for classical music, as well as hand-picked recommendations and "contextual details about repertoire and recordings." Oliver Schusser, Apple's Vice President of Apple Music and Beats, explains :

Apple says that with the purchase of Primephonic, Apple Music subscribers will get an improved classical experience. This will start with Primephonic playlists and audio content. In the coming months, Apple will offer a dedicated Primephonic experience with improved search capabilities by composer and repertoire, better classical music metadata, and more.
Primephonic: Apple wants to release a new app next year
Primephonic will be taken offline on September 7th and will no longer be available to new subscribers. Next year, Cupertino says it will release its own classical music app that combines Primephonic's classical user interface with additional features. Current Primephonic subscribers will receive six months of free Apple Music access with access to hundreds of thousands of classical albums that support lossless and spatial audio. (Image: Apple)
